Patrik has extensive experience in financial and business consulting and managing major investment projects. After studying at the Faculty of Economics in Ljubljana, he began his career at the international financial firm Deloitte Central Europe, where he last worked as a senior financial advisor. Notable projects in which he participated include the preparation of investment documentation for the 1.2 billion EUR project “Second Track Divača-Koper,” within which a comprehensive socio-economic analysis of the project was carried out. This analysis included the quantification of environmental impacts (costs of greenhouse gas emissions, noise, pollution, etc.) and other impacts calculated for major EU-funded projects based on EU standards (Regulation (EU) No 1303/2013 of the European Parliament and of the Council, Commission Delegated Regulation (EU) No 480/2014, “Guide to Cost-Benefit Analysis of Investment Projects for Cohesion Policy 2014-2020”). For the Infrastructure Development Company (DRI), Patrik also conducted a Socio-Economic Analysis of the dual-track railway Divača-Koper, which formed the basis for EU financing of side tunnels with a larger diameter (possibility of dual-track in the future).

In collaboration with the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD), the European Commission, and the Ministry of Finance, Patrik participated in the project “Establishment of a Centralized Unit for Preliminary Review and Evaluation of Investments,” which, among other things, defines the methodology for evaluating the environmental impacts of investments by public law entities. During the project, Patrik gave lectures and workshops for staff of all Slovenian municipalities and their advisors, addressing the qualitative and quantitative evaluation of all financial and non-financial (including environmental) aspects of investments in accordance with the developed methodology, which represents a synthesis of EU, EBRD, and World Bank guidelines.

He further enhanced his knowledge and understanding of “cost-benefit analysis – CBA” in a project where, in collaboration with the Chemical Institute, he prepared investment and other documentation for the Steklarna Hrastnik company to apply for the EU Innovation Fund with a hybrid regenerative glass furnace project. This project will significantly contribute to increasing energy efficiency and reducing emissions of the company and the glass industry as a whole. With this project, Steklarna Hrastnik became the first (and so far only) company to successfully apply for the Call where companies from all EU countries compete under the same conditions.

As an expert in EU funds, he advised state bodies on the preparation of strategic and supporting documents for programming EU cohesion policy and advised various clients on obtaining non-repayable and repayable EU funds. Within Deloitte, he also participated in setting up the 2021-2027 cohesion policy, as he was part of an international expert group that, in cooperation with the Government Office for Development and Cohesion (SVRK), the Ministry of the Environment and Spatial Planning (MOP), the Ministry of Economic Development and Technology (MGRT), SID Bank, and other stakeholders, prepared a Preliminary Assessment of Market Needs and Financing Gaps for the Implementation of Financial Instruments in the 2021-2027 Programming Period.

In addition to investments, Patrik was also involved in major M&A transactions, including advising an Australian buyer on the acquisition of JUB d.o.o. (lead buy-side advisory), advising the seller on the sale of Energija plus d.o.o. (lead sell-side advisory), advising the seller on the sale of E-ON d.o.o. (lead sell-side advisory), and advising the seller on the sale of Nomago d.o.o. (lead sell-side advisory).

After his career at Deloitte, he joined the advisory firm in the field of investment banking ION Advisory. In 2022, he and his business partner founded the advisory company CorSapio, which covers all areas of financial and business consulting. CorSapio has a strong interdisciplinary team of experts covering various segments of consulting. They also collaborate with the partner company Ta-Bu investicije on numerous real estate projects and preparations of construction documentation.
